CHRISTMAS CHOIR FESTIVAL

January 6-8, 2017

The Christmas Choir Festival is organized in the framework of the International Festival of Children and Youth’s Creativity “Rainbow over Vitebsk”, and it gives a chance to choral on-stage performance groups to visit the Republic of Belarus, share experience with the best groups, appear in appreciative Belarus public with concerted numbers, see the sights of the oldest Belarus cities of Vitebsk and Polotsk. Participants of the festival will have a unique opportunity to have a performance under the arches of the Saint Sophia Cathedral of XI century – the one of the best concert halls in Europe.
 
1st day
Arrival in Vitebsk. Breakfast. Sightseeing bus and walking tour “Amazing Vitebsk”. You will enjoy the magnificence of the architecture of the city with more than a thousand years of history, combining the West and East features; perfectly preserved and restored buildings of historic area of the city of the XVIII-XIX centuries; camel-backed Vitebsk streets where you can run up and .... catch the air. Town Hall is the symbol of a free city. Church of the Resurrection is one of the most beautiful monuments of Vilnius Baroque, majestic Cathedral of the Assumption, the pedestrian street of Suvorov with souvenir shops, art galleries, cafes, restaurants, coffee shops located along it. The Annunciation Church is a monument of ancient architecture of the XII century. Accommodation. Cocktail party in the tourist salon. Christmas performance of the Student Puppet Theatre Batleyka.
Transfer to the memorial house of Mark Chagall, where he spent his childhood and youth. You will plunge into the atmosphere of the late XIX and early XX centuries, a deeper understanding of the inspiration source of artist who played the melody of his life on the amazing Vitebsk violin.
Transfer to the Zdravniovo estate - the Ilya Yefimovich Repin museum. A guided tour of the museum. You will enjoy a nice bracing walk in the winter park, century-old trees, the steep bank of the high-speed river, an opportunity to take pictures on the artist model hill “Mont Blanc”. The amazing beauty of this nature reserved area, where Repin lived for a long time and created his great paintings, can leave no one indifferent. Christmas games, fun in the fresh air.
Transfer to Vitebsk.
Walk around the city historic center to enjoy the night view of New Year Vitebsk. The observation deck on the Uspenskaya (Assumption) Mountain offers a breathtakingly beautiful view of the shining lights of the magical Old Town famous throughout the world due to Chagall’s paintings. You should prepare for many pleasant surprises in the New Year’s Eve. Everyone can go skating near the Christmas tree, enjoy ridding in a sleigh with Ded Moroz and Snegurochka (Russian Father Frost and Snow Maiden). A night at the hotel.
2nd day
Breakfast. Overall rehearsal. Festival of sacred music at the National Academic Drama Theater named after Yakub Kolas. Ceremony of the festival opening.
Disco party titled “Hand-in-hand with friends” in the Palace of Children and Youth in Vitebsk.

3rd day
Breakfast. Departure to Polotsk - the oldest city of the eastern Slavs (100 km). Polotsk is the unique city-monument which territory has been listed as a historic and cultural reserve. You can touch here the innermost secrets of the first Belarus city. A walk along Nizhne-Pokrovskaya Street: Epiphany Monastery, Franciscan Monastery, Brotherhood school, Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin.
Excursion to the Saint Euphrosyne Women monastery in whose territory the Transfiguration Church is situated. It was built in the XII century through the request of Euphrosyne of Polotsk. The interior of the church is decorated with unique frescoes of XII century. The reserved relics of St. Euphrosyne of Polotsk are kept here.
Excursion to the Saint Sophia Cathedral - the pearl of Kievan Rus’ architecture (XI-XVIII centuries) with a magnificent interior decoration and unique acoustics. One of the best pipe organ in Belarus is installed in the cathedral. The Gala Concert in St. Sophia Cathedral. Ceremony of the festival closing. Ceremony of awarding diplomas and prizes of the International festival. Transfer to the railway station. Departure.
